Cloud of the PA: the qualification path and the AGID support after April 1

27/May/2019

From April 1, the new contracts for the acquisition of cloud services of central and local administrations can be stipulated only if the services to be purchased have been qualified and are present in the AgID Catalogue.

The adoption of the Cloud paradigm in the PA, one of the key initiatives of the digital transformation, revolutionizes the way we think about the processes of delivering PA services to citizens, with significant advantages in terms of increased system reliability, quality and cost savings. To support PA and businesses in migrating to the "Cloud of PA" model, AgID has launched a plan to promote, disseminate and support the territory and a series of dialogue initiatives involving the market and administrations.

From April 1, new contracts for the acquisition of central and local government cloud services can be stipulated only if the services to be purchased have been qualified and are present in the AgID Catalogue of cloud services qualified for the PA, according to the requirements and indications contained in Circulars No. 2 and No. 3 of April 9, 2018.

In addition to the materials already available online, there are frequently asked questions integrated with the contributions collected during the meetings of 13 and 27 February, the compilation guides for the qualification Cloud Service Provider (CSP), Software as a Service (SaaS) and the presentations of the various meetings. Currently, the Catalogue presents 33 suppliers and 117 services (IaaS, PaaS and SaaS) qualified, numbers constantly increasing thanks to the daily support provided by AgID (April 2019).

The PA Cloud model includes qualified public, private and community services and infrastructures and the introduction of the cloud first principle, whereby administrations are required to evaluate the adoption of digital services available in the cloud before any other traditional solution. A piece within a broader design declined in the new Three-Year Plan for Information Technology in the PA 2019 -2021. The model also represents one of the priorities of the digital agendas of the Regions, which, also through specific agreements signed with AGID, have provided for the progressive adoption of this model. The PA will be able to achieve significant cost reductions, simplify software updates, improve security and data protection, and improve the operational efficiency of ICT systems.
