Microsoft, the most important software company in the world in terms of turnover, conducted a study highlighting how Cloud Computing can produce positive impacts that can boost economic performance and social development in our country.

The study calculated that when faced with the modernisation and optimisation of Public Administration Data Centres, enabled by the adoption of Cloud Computing solutions, it is possible to generate savings of up to 1.2 billion euros per year.

We have now entered a new economy, the so-called Data Economy , which revolves around the ability of institutions and businesses to make maximum use of the data available, with the main objective of improving their performance and the quality of services, but always ensuring that the principles of privacy, security, transparency and interoperability are guaranteed.

The "cloud first" policy would then be able to optimise resources, accelerating innovation and productivity in the public and private sector through the development of solutions to support the growth of SMEs and the creation of a digital skills plan and innovative ecosystems for the future of the country.

Cloudify NoiPA, the NoiPA digital transformation programme implemented by the MEF with the co-financing of the European Union, the National Operational Programme "Institutional Governance and Institutional Capacity", plays an important role in the staff management of the entire Italian Public Administration, as it allows to increase the quantity and type of services currently made available by the platform, innovating its delivery model and favouring a digital transformation path using the new paradigms of cloud and big data.

In the public sector, the aim is to simplify the Italian Public Administration by increasing its effectiveness in providing services to citizens and businesses and exploiting the leverage of digital transformation and the opportunities offered by Cloud Computing.

In particular, to define a three-year migration plan for the PA on the Cloud, to accelerate the consolidation of IT infrastructures and to leverage the market platforms offered by all AgID certified cloud service providers. The residence of data in Italy and appropriate rules of governance, transparency, privacy, security and interoperability will be able to guarantee digital sovereignty.
