It took place in Rome, during the closing speech of the Undersecretary for the Economy and Finance, Massimo Garavaglia, the launch event of the European PoSeID-on project on digital identity "Digital Identity: Privacy Threats and Business Opportunities, Will the Technology Fix Everything?".

The project, which sees the Ministry of Economy and Finance at the head of a consortium of 10 European partners (universities, public and private entities from seven different countries), has been selected by the European Commission as part of the call "Cybersecurity PPP: Privacy, Data Protection, Digital Identities "and is aimed at the creation, over the next three years, of an innovative platform for the management and protection of personal data. This fully implements the digital security principles included in the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), guaranteeing users the portability of data, the right of access, the right to be forgotten. and the restriction of personal data processing.

The platform, developed by the PoSeID-on project will initially be accessible to employees of the Italian public administration through NoiPA, the legal-economic management service involving over two million public employees, through the services developed in collaboration with Reale Mutua over the pilot project. Platform users will have the possibility, through an innovative dashboard for the secure exchange of information, to make informed decisions on who will process their data, enabling or revoking the authorizations and eventually requesting the permanent removal of their personal data based on the controller reliability.

The aim is to extend the use to other use cases in the context of NoiPA, the service for the legal-economic management of the Public Administration managed by the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, which also has its own procedures concerning the processing of payrolls of over two million employees both from central and peripheral staff of public administrations, and making it available to public administrations for future applications.

Renato Catalano, Head of Department of General Administration, personnel and services (DAG) of the MEF, explained how "by using the PoSeID-on platform, companies will be able to activate new services for public employees by interacting with PA systems, automatically respecting the requirements set by the GDPR. NoiPA manages sensitive information and the role of the MEF is to ensure the improvement of the platform in compliance with current European security laws". Francesco Paolo Schiavo, Coordinator of the PoSeID-on project and Director General of the information systems and innovation of the DAG, illustrated the timing: "As expected from the project plan, shared with the Commission, already at the end of 2019 a first version of the platform will be available, and it will then be refined and distributed by the end of 2020 ".

Undersecretary Garavaglia underlined how, the PoSeID-on project, becomes "the means by which the MEF creates a transparent, reliable, safe tool to implement in PA activities. It's a PA that changes skin ".
