SPID opens up to private individuals: the first service accessible with the public digital identity system

02/Aug/2019

Agency for Digital Italy defines the new models of agreement for private organizations who want to have their services accessed via the network through SPID.

Determination n.166/2019, approved by the Agency for Digital Italy, defines the new models of agreement with companies and makes the public system of digital identity the key to access to services offered by individuals and not only by public administrations. With the determination, therefore, is also published the price list for private service providers who intend to use SpID as a system for access to their services. In this way, the spread of digital identity among citizens continues, offering a tool that increasingly acts as an "access key" to an ever-increasing number of services. We would like to remind you that NoiPA is also contributing to the diffusion of the Unica digital identity with the launch - at the beginning of 2019 - of the Get SPID service, dedicated to users registered on NoiPA to quickly and easily activate their SPID credentials.

The first private operator to have adhered to the agreement of Agid for the use of SPID is Acquirente unico SPA, which will soon be followed by other operators. Acquirente unico SPA makes a service usable through SPID that allows citizens to have information on their energy consumption and identify the operator who guarantees the most advantageous economic conditions.

The pricing model designed by AgID identifies two different scenarios for private operators, linking the price of access to the number and type of attributes requested by the Service Provider:

  • Authentication" accesses: SPID authentication with only the attributes of the Holder's personal data being requested
  • Access in "Registration" mode: SPID authentication with request for attributes not related to the Holder's personal data and possible request for attributes of the Holder's personal data.

The new model convention, issued by AgID, opens the way for individuals in the market for services accessible via SPID and will help to further boost the use of the public system of digital identity by citizens.
