It is called "audio-video" and is a new simple and secure activation mode, to obtain the SPID digital identity - which now has over 11.3 million users - with the only use of a device connected to the network and without the help of an operator.

This new mode helps reduce waiting times for online recognition at a time when identity providers have a high peak demand.

The user will have to register on the site of one of the 9 identity providers enabled for the release of SPID (Aruba, In.Te.S.A., InfoCert, Lepida, Namirial, Poste Italiane, Register, Sielte, TI Trust Technologies) and then:

• Make a video in which the user shows his Italian identity document (ID card, electronic ID card, driving licence or passport) and his health card or, alternatively, his tax code card. To protect against identity theft, during the video the user will also have to read a code received via sms or one of the identity provider apps installed on their mobile phone;
• Make a transfer from an Italian bank account in his name or co-owned by him, indicating in the reason for the transfer a specific code that he will have received from the identity provider.

Once these steps have been completed, the information will be verified within a few days by the operator who will release the digital identity.

This new method has received the favourable opinion of the Guarantor for the protection of personal data and has been adopted by AgID, an institution supervised by the Minister for Technological Innovation and Digitization.

Among the measures to guarantee security and privacy protection, agreed with the Guarantor, there are spot checks on requests, with double verification by operators, and constant monitoring of requests rejected for reasons related to fraudulent attempts.
